Chronic Pain Solutions for the Modern Workplace

When employees are dealing with chronic pain it affects more than just their bodies it changes how they show up

When employees are dealing with chronic pain, it affects more than just their bodies—it changes how they show up.

It’s harder to concentrate.
Harder to stay energized.
Harder to fully engage with their team, their work, and their own potential.

And while things like desk ergonomics and movement reminders are helpful, they only scratch the surface.

At Empowered Self
We go deeper

We help employees understand how their nervous system, past stress, and fear-based movement patterns contribute to pain—and what they can do to change that.

Founded by movement specialist and pain educator Mandy Ryle, our programs combine science-backed education, somatic movement, and nervous system training to help people feel better in their bodies—so they can show up with more clarity, presence, and resilience.

Because when employees feel strong, safe, and supported, they bring their best to the table.

The BodyWise Workplace Approach

We partner with businesses and HR leaders to provide employees with sustainable, science-backed tools to reduce physical pain, improve energy, and build long-term resilience—without overhauling your wellness budget.

Whether your team works in-office, hybrid, or fully remote, we help them feel stronger, more confident, and more connected to their bodies—so they can do their best work.

Led by chronic pain specialist, movement educator, and 500-hour yoga therapist Mandy Ryle, our programs blend:

Evidence Informed Pain Care

Helping employees understand what pain really means (and doesn’t mean) can help your team commit to their evidence informed process. Understanding pain is the first step in becoming empowered to move beyond pain

Small, simple practices that retrain the nervous system and support lasting change

  • Gradually reintroduce movement without fear.
  • Soothe the nervous system and reduce pain sensitivity.
  • Build strength, flexibility, and trust in your body.

No drastic changes required, just actionable tools that work with your schedule. BodyWise is all about finding meaningful and sustainable lifestyle tweaks to make a big difference in pain levels and productivity.

The same strategies that are used to move beyond pain also improve overall health and encourage better metabolic, cardiac and mental health.

Breathwork, mobility routines, posture resets, and more. Simple daily practices encourage the neuroplastic change required to move beyond pain.

Mandy's Movement Method

Mandy’s approach to rehabilitative movement is based on cutting-edge pain science, years of experience, and a deep understanding of the emotional toll chronic pain takes.

She’s helped hundreds of pain-sufferers by:

  • Addressing pain that lingers beyond healing. Chronic pain often lasts longer than the time it takes for your tissues to heal, typically three to six months. When this happens, other factors—like the body’s learned responses to pain—can come into play. Mandy’s coaching helps employees identify and address these factors to create real, lasting relief.
  • Following the research. Combining neuroscience, somatic movement, and mindfulness, Mandy uses a holistic, evidence-based approach to help your team reduce pain and stiffness, and increase energy and motivation
  • Staying practical and personalized. This isn’t about quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. Mandy’s program is tailored to meet employees where they are, helping them to make sustainable changes at their own pace.
  • Prioritizing confidence and trust. Instead of avoiding movement out of fear, employees learn how to approach it with trust, optimism, and the knowledge that their bodies are adaptable and resilient.

The Result?

Employees who are energized, motivated And ready to show up at their best

This isn’t just about wellness—it’s about performance.
Companies who invest in chronic pain support report:

Fewer pain-related absences and insurance claims

Employees aren’t sidelined by preventable flare-ups, meaning fewer sick days, lower disability claims, and reduced healthcare costs over time.

Higher engagement, energy, and output

When people aren’t distracted by physical discomfort. When they sleep well, and are able to exercise regularly, they can focus better, collaborate more effectively, and bring more presence to their work.

Improved retention and team morale

Teams feel seen and supported—which fosters loyalty, reduces burnout, and helps you keep your top performers longer. Chronic pain affects 25% of the US population. Imagine the toll of that on your workforce.

A culture that prioritizes resilience and well-being

By addressing the root causes of chronic stress and pain, you cultivate a workplace where people don’t just survive—they thrive. Pain is not immutable, yet so many struggle to work at their best due to inadequate pain management.

I’ve tried Physical therapy, injections, medications and so much more. I spent my like trying to find the cause of my pain and avoiding things that I thought would hurt or cause a flare. Decreasing my back pain was important because I had become so limited in the things I could do. My initial hesitation was a big fear that the program just wouldn’t work. And I didn’t know if I could carve out the time in my very busy schedule. But this program helped me to understand what pain really is, and just how complex it is! Throughout the process I found that the practices decreased my pain which helped me to trust the process, commit to the process and to trust my body too. I now have an understanding of pain and the tools to navigate it when flares happen. The biggest benefit is that I am now so much more aware of my body. I’ve learned so much about not just my pain, but myself and what I am capable of. I’ve developed a mindfulness practice and finally have the tools to care for myself to manage my pain better. The lessons, practices and weekly group sessions are provided in a way that you can do things at your own pace while still holding you accountable for what needs to be done. It was helpful to have the daily reminders and accountability. Even a month after the program ended I am still seeing improvement in not just my pain, but the activites I can do pain free now.
