Yin is Cool – Bonus Practice

Before we go any further, let’s explore the process. Yin IS cool. Without coolness Yin is just slow Vinyasa. But coolness is a hard sell in our goal driven, results oriented culture. Let’s just try it on for size and see how it goes.

Coolness should be practiced:

  • In temperature – don’t warm up!
  • Energetically – maintain a sluggish pranic attitude
  • Mentally – disengage from your typical intention setting. Release yourself from the need to accomplish any particular outcome and allow yourself to just observe.

Props needed:

None are required but you will benefit from having a bolster or cusion and a couple of blocks. If your hips and/or hamstrings tend to be less compliant, a thick and supportive blanket will be helpful.
