Pranayama: Nadi Shodana

Breathing and Mindfulness

I want to leave you with a go to technique for working with stress. Those with neck pain know that the racing mind, stress, neck tension and pain tend to go together.

Most of us feel stress as a result of external circumstances. But stress is not an event or stimulus that happens in your life. It’s your brain’s judgment that what is happening exceeds your resources. Having finished this program, I know that you have formidable resources. I recomend that you interrupt stress and tension with this practice any time you need it. Take a moment to marshal your resources by returning to yourself. I know that you will emerge from your practice with less tension and a new perspective on the stressful situation you are working with.

Note: You may have practiced Nadi Shodana, Alternate Nostril Breathing using your hand to close one nostril at a time. I want for this practice to be highly accessable so this version does not make use of hand movements or mudras.
