Contrary to popular belief….

There is no perfect way to breathe. We were endowed with the capacity and discrimination to breathe in so many ways. I believe that we do more harm when we resrict options. So this is a practice to give you permission to breathe with many different strategies. you may very well discover some sensations or movements that you are unfamiliar with. You may even find some tactics that work really well. Keep them all in your pocket for future use. 

We do know that breathing low into the abdomen tends to be calming, while breathing into the uppper ribs and collar bone tends to be very activating, even anxiety inducing. So there are appropriate strategies for facilitating states of mind and alertness that you may want to tune into as you do this pranayama.
